Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami was assaulted by three men in front of his after his driver allegedly hit a bike of a local resident.
The Indian cricketer tried to resolve the issue and directly went his home with his wife. However, the man reached Shami’s residence with two others created a ruckus for the Indian fast bowler. The caretaker of the building stepped in and an assault was followed.
The Jadavpur police in South Kolkata on Monday arrested three guys after star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami filed a complaint about manhandling of his apartment’s caretaker. It is rumored that an altercation was followed after Shami’s car was blocked by a motorcyclist late on Saturday night.
A complaint was filed on Sunday night by the Indian cricketer’s wife and the three accused were arrested by the local police. They were presented in the Alipore Court on Monday.
The entire incident was recorded on CCTV cameras that are installed in the building. Police identified the youths as Jayanta Sarkar, Swarup Sarkar, and Shiva Pramanik, who run a nearby salon.
A senior officer of Jadavpur police station quoted .”They have been booked under IPC sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 341 (wrongful restraint),”.
Shami is a vital member of the Indian team and is part of the men in blue’s 16-man squad for the three-match series against Sri Lanka starting on July 26 in Galle.
India is scheduled to play 3 Tests, 5 ODIs, and one T20I against Sri Lanka during the long series that starts end July. The three Test matches are scheduled to be played at Galle, Colombo, and Kandy, respectively.
This is the first time the two countries will be playing a full series (includes all three formats) in a span of eight years.
