The legendary Bollywood beauty, Sridevi, who is also a Padma Shree Awardee, died late in the night reportedly due to cardiac arrest in Dubai. It was only recently that the actress had gone to Dubai along with her family to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. Little did we know that this would turn out to be her last celebration with the family.
Confirming the devastating news to a leading daily, Sridevi’s brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor said, “Yes it’s true. She was in Dubai while some of the other family members came back to India. We hear it’s cardiac arrest.”
As per reports, it is said that the actress was with her husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi at the time of the death, while all the others had gone back to India after the wedding. Sridevi’s elder daughter Jhanvi did not accompany the family to the wedding as she was keeping busy with the shoot of her upcoming film.
The talented actress made her debut in the Bollywood industry in 1978 with her drama film, ‘Solva Sawan’. But she only rose to fame after five years when she appeared in her 1983 production ‘Himmatwala’ opposite talented actor, Jeetendra.
Some of her remarkable films include Sadma, ChaalBaaz, Mr. India, Mawali, Nagina, Tohfa and Gumrah.
After starring in her home production, ‘Judai’, the actress went on a hiatus for 15 years. But soon she made an impressive comeback with Gauri Shinde’s directed film, ‘English Vinglish’ in 2012. Last year, the actress was also seen in revenge drama, ‘MOM’ opposite actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna.
Miss ‘Hawa Hawai’ had lately shot for a special appearance in Shah Rukh Khan starrer film, Zero, which is all set to release in December this year. This would also make the last appearance of the actress on the silver screen.
